Usa il Future Continuous (will be + -ing) per un’azione che sarà in corso in un momento futuro, e il Future Perfect (will have + past participle) per un’azione che sarà finita prima di un punto futuro.

La regola

Queste tre forme ti permettono di guardare al futuro da un’angolazione più precisa di un semplice will.

Future Perfect	`will have + past participle`	Finita prima di un punto futuro: By 2030 they will have finished* the bridge.*
Future Perfect Continuous	`will have been + verb-ing`	Durata fino a un punto futuro: In June I’ll have been working* here for ten years.*

Un secondo uso, molto comune, del Future Continuous è per un evento futuro visto come parte del normale corso degli eventi — qualcosa che accadrà comunque, senza un piano o una decisione particolare dietro: I’ll be seeing her at the meeting anyway, so I can pass on the message.

Il Future Perfect risponde alla domanda «Sarà finito per allora?» — lo guardiamo indietro da un punto più avanti nel futuro. Il Future Perfect Continuous mette l’accento su quanto a lungo l’attività è andata avanti fino a quel punto.

Queste forme si basano su will (lezione 19), il Continuous (lezione 8) e il Perfect (lezione 25). Trattale come B1 avanzato / B2.

Parole-segnale di tempo che indicano queste forme:

Nota: la forma non cambia dopo by the time / when / before — usa un tempo presente in quella proposizione, non will: By the time you get here…, before the shop closes…

Esempi

At 9 o’clock tonight we will be watching the final.	In corso esattamente in quel momento futuro.
Will you be using the car tomorrow?	Chiedere di qualcosa già programmato, senza pressione.
Don’t call at six - I’ll be driving home then.	Azione in corso, quindi la persona non sarà libera.
By next summer they will have built the new station.	Completata prima di quel punto futuro.
By the time the film ends, the kids will have fallen asleep.	Finita prima dell’altro evento futuro.
In December she will have lived abroad for a decade.	Guardare indietro da un punto futuro a un intervallo completato.
Next month I will have been teaching for twenty years.	Durata di un’attività in corso fino a un punto futuro.
I’ll be seeing Tom later, so I’ll ask him then.	Evento futuro di routine, parte del normale corso delle cose.

Errori frequenti

By Friday I will read it. -> By Friday I will have read it. — by + un punto futuro richiede il Future Perfect, non il semplice will.
This time tomorrow I will fly to Rome. -> This time tomorrow I will be flying to Rome. — un’azione in corso in un momento futuro vuole il Continuous.
In June I will work here for ten years. -> In June I will have been working here for ten years. — la durata fino a un punto futuro richiede will have been + -ing.
By the time you will arrive, we’ll have left. -> By the time you arrive, we’ll have left. — usa un tempo presente nella proposizione temporale dopo by the time, before, when, mai will.
I will have finish it. -> I will have finished it. — il Future Perfect usa il participio passato, non la forma base.

Consigli

Vedi by (una scadenza) -> pensa al Future Perfect: «finito entro allora».
Vedi un orario preciso o this time tomorrow -> pensa al Future Continuous: «nel bel mezzo di qualcosa, in quel momento».
will be -ing può suonare più cortese/neutro di will: Will you be joining us? chiede dei piani senza fare pressione.
Dopo una congiunzione temporale — when, by the time, as soon as, before, until — togli will e usa il presente: When you finish, call me.
