可算名詞 は数えられる名詞です。単数形と複数形があり、a／an や数（a book, two books）を伴います。不可算名詞 は一つのまとまりとして捉えられる名詞です。複数形も a／an もありません（water, money, advice）。
規則
可算名詞 は一つずつ数えられる別々の物です。形が2つあります：
- a／anをつけた単数形：a car, an apple
- -sまたは数をつけた複数形：cars、two apples、three cars
不可算名詞 は物質、材料、液体、あるいは概念です。それを一つのまとまりとして扱うので：
- その前に a／an をつけません：
a water-> water／some water - 複数形の -s をつけません：
advices、informations-> advice、information - 単数の動詞を取ります：The news is good. The furniture is new.
英語では不可算名詞でも、他の言語では可算名詞であるものが多くあります。これがA2レベルで最もよく起こる誤りの原因です。次のよく使う短いリストを不可算名詞として覚えましょう：

不可算名詞を数えるには、単位や容器を表す語＋of を使います：

語形と文型
それぞれの種類に合った数量詞を使います。Some と any はどちらにも使えます。

名詞の中には、意味が変わることで両方（可算・不可算）になるものがあります：

よくある間違い
an information-> some information／a piece of information：information は不可算名詞です。a／an もつかず、複数形にもしません。She gave me good advices.-> good advice／two pieces of advice：advice には決して -s をつけません。The news are bad.-> The news is bad.：不可算名詞は単数の動詞を取ります。How much chairs?-> How many chairs?：可算名詞には much ではなく many を使います。I need to buy a new furniture.-> some new furniture／a new piece of furniture：furniture は不可算名詞です。
ヒント
- 数をそのまま前に置けるなら（two ___）、それは可算名詞です。それが不自然に聞こえるなら、不可算名詞です。
- 紛らわしい語の覚え方：advice, information, news, furniture, luggage, work, weather, money はすべて英語では不可算名詞です。
- 抽象名詞や集合名詞には安全な数え方として a piece of を使います：a piece of advice／information／news／furniture。
- muchは肯定文では改まった感じがします。日常会話ではどちらの種類にもa lot ofを使います：a lot of money, a lot of friends。
