Past Simple: was/were e verbi regolari/irregolari

A1 Past simple: was/were & regular/irregular verbs 14 / 50

In breve

Soggettobe (passato)
I / he / she / itwas
you / we / theywere
  • Negativa: wasn’t (was not), weren’t (were not).
  • Domande: metti be per primo — Was I…? / Were you…?
  • Per cose che esistevano: there was (singolare), there were (plurale).

2) Gli altri verbi (verbi d’azione) hanno la stessa forma di passato per ogni soggetto — niente -s, nessun cambiamento per he/she/it.

  • Affermativa: verbo regolare + -ed (work -> worked), oppure la forma speciale di passato di un verbo irregolare (go -> went).
  • Negativa: didn’t + verbo base -> I didn’t go (NON didn’t went).
  • Domanda: Did + soggetto + verbo base -> Did you see it?

Forme e strutture

Verbi regolari — ortografia di -ed

RegolaBase -> PassatoNota
termina in -e: + -dlike -> liked, live -> livedaggiungi solo -d
consonante + -y: -y -> -iedstudy -> studied, try -> triedma play -> played (vocale + y)

/t/suono sordo (p, k, f, s, sh, ch)worked, liked, washed
/d/suono sonoro o vocale (b, g, l, n, r, vocali)played, lived, called
/id/solo base in -t o -dwanted, needed, started

BasePassatoBasePassato
gowentcomecame
havehadtaketook
dodidknowknew
saysaidthinkthought
seesawfindfound
getgotgivegave
makemadetelltold

Negative e domande (regolari E irregolari — stesso schema):

Negativasoggetto + didn’t + baseShe didn’t call me.
Domanda sì/noDid + soggetto + baseDid they win?
Domanda con wh-Wh- + did + soggetto + baseWhere did you go?

Esempi

EnglishNota
I was tired after the trip.be, soggetto singolare -> was.
They were at home all day.be, soggetto plurale -> were.
There were ten people in the room.cose plurali -> there were.
We watched a film last night.verbo regolare + -ed; tempo concluso.
She studied French at school.consonante + y -> -ied.
He went to Rome in 2010.irregolare: go -> went; un anno concluso.
I didn’t see the email.negativa = didn’t + base (NON didn’t saw).
Did you enjoy the party?domanda = Did + soggetto + base.

Errori frequenti

  • I didn’t went -> I didn’t go — dopo didn’t, usa il verbo base, non il passato.
  • Did you saw it? -> Did you see it? — did mostra già il passato, quindi usa la base.
  • He was study / He studyed -> He studied — consonante + y diventa -ied.
  • We was late -> We were late — we/you/they prendono were, non was.
  • I goed / buyed / putted -> I went / bought / put — i verbi comuni sono irregolari; imparali a memoria.

Consigli

  • Un’unica forma di passato vale per tutti i soggetti (tranne be): I/you/he/we/they worked. Niente -s su he/she/it.
