Imperativo
A1 Imperatives 12 / 50
In breve
Turn left. Be careful.
Usi semplicemente il verbo base (la forma del dizionario: go, sit, be, have) senza soggetto.
| Uso | Esempio |
|---|---|
| Ordine / istruzione | Open your books. |
| Indicazione | Turn left at the lights. |
| Avvertimento | Be careful! |
| Offerta / invito | Have a seat. |
| Cartello / avviso | Mind the gap. |
Funziona per ogni verbo, compreso be:
- Don’t touch that.
- Don’t be late.
Wait here, please. / Just relax.
La negativa è Let’s not + verbo base.
Un imperativo (o un suggerimento con Let’s) unito a una proposizione da and o or dice cosa accadrà: and dà il risultato di seguirlo, or il risultato di non seguirlo — Leave now and you will catch the early bus (= se parti adesso); Don’t be late, or we will lose the booking (= se sei in ritardo).
Forme e strutture
| Forma | Struttura | Esempio |
|---|---|---|
| Affermativa | verbo base | Stop. / Sit down. |
| Negativa | Don’t + verbo base | Don’t stop. / Don’t run. |
| Con be | (Don’t) + be + … | Be quiet. / Don’t be silly. |
| Addolcito | Please / Just + imperativo | Please come in. / Just wait. |
| Soggetto enfatico | You + verbo base | You go first. |
| Suggerimento (che include chi parla) | Let’s + verbo base | Let’s go. |
| Suggerimento, negativo | Let’s not + verbo base | Let’s not argue. |
| Risultato | imperativo + and / or + proposizione | Hurry up and we will still get seats. |
Non c’è -s, non c’è to, non c’è do/does nelle affermative.

Errori frequenti
- To sit down. -> Sit down. — niente to prima del verbo all’imperativo.
- You go home. (come semplice ordine) -> Go home. — di solito ometti you; mantienilo solo per enfasi.
- Don’t touching that. / Not touch that. -> Don’t touch that. — la negativa è Don’t + verbo base.
- Please you wait. -> Please wait. — please + imperativo; nessun soggetto.
- Let’s to go. / Let’s going. -> Let’s go. — solo Let’s + verbo base.
Consigli
- Pensa a un «verbo nudo»: nessun soggetto, nessun to, nessuna desinenza. Solo Go. Wait. Help.
- Let’s = let us: invita sempre chi ascolta a partecipare.
