B1 Question tags & indirect questions 40 / 50

You’re coming, aren’t you? Could you tell me where the station is?

이런 것이 없으면(현재시제/과거시제) do / does / did를 씁니다.
You are coming긍정aren’t you?You’re coming, aren’t you?
She doesn’t smoke부정문does she?She doesn’t smoke, does she?
They have left긍정haven’t they?They’ve left, haven’t they?
He can swim긍정can’t he?He can swim, can’t he?
Tom works here긍정doesn’t he?Tom works here, doesn’t he?
You didn’t call부정문did you?You didn’t call, did you?

Tom is late, isn’t he? Even though the shop is shut, you can order online, can’t you?

I am …aren’t I?I’m next, aren’t I?
I’m not …am I?I’m not late, am I?
명령문(요청)will you? / won’t you? / can you?Close the door, will you?
Let’s …shall we?Let’s start, shall we?
There is / are …isn’t there? / aren’t there?There’s a problem, isn’t there?
nothing / something(주어)itNothing’s wrong, is it?
nobody / somebody / everybodythey (+ 복수 조동사)Somebody called, didn’t they? / Everybody has arrived, haven’t they?

그 대명사가 they이므로 부가의문문의 조동사도 그에 맞춰 복수형이 됩니다(is -> are, has -> have, does -> do): Everybody is here, aren’t they? / Nobody has replied, have they?

never, hardly, rarely, seldom, no, nothing, nobody He never calls, does he? / You’ve hardly eaten, have you?

It’s a lovely day, isn’t it?↘
You locked the door, didn’t you?↗

  2. 의문문을 만드는 조동사로 do / does / did를 쓰지 않습니다.
Where is the station?Could you tell me where the station is?
What time does it start?I wonder what time it starts.
Is the shop open?Do you know if/whether the shop is open?
When did they leave?Do you know when they left?

Yes/No 의문문은 if이나 whether로 연결합니다: Do you know if it’s open? wh- 의문문은 wh- 의문사를 그대로 둡니다: I wonder what it costs.

Statement + , + (opposite polarity) auxiliary/BE/do + pronoun ?

am / is / are / was / were같은 BE동사 형태
have / has / had (조동사)have / has / had
can, will, should, must 등같은 화법조동사
현재시제(조동사 없음)do / does

(You must sign the form, mustn’t you?). She must be tired, isn’t she? / He must have left early, didn’t he? (mustn’t she 형태는 안 됨).

간접의문문을 여는 표현(그 뒤에는 평서문 어순): Could you tell me … / Do you know … / I wonder … / Would you mind telling me … / I’d like to know … + wh-의문사 / if / whether + 주어 + 동사.

English참고
You’ve finished your homework, haven’t you?긍정문(have) -> 부정 부가의문문
She isn’t coming to the party, is she?
Let’s take a break, shall we?
I’m right, aren’t I?특수한 경우: I am -> aren’t I
Pass me the salt, will you?명령문 요청 -> will you
He never listens, does he?never가 문장을 부정으로 만듦 -> 긍정 부가의문문
Could you tell me where the toilets are?
Do you know if the train has left?if를 쓴 간접 Yes/No 의문문

  • You’re tired, isn’t it? -> You’re tired, aren’t you? — 부가의문문의 대명사는 주어와 일치해야 합니다.
  • I’m late, amn’t I? -> I’m late, aren’t I? — I am에 대한 정해진 부가의문문은 aren’t I입니다.
  • She likes tea, likes she? -> She likes tea, doesn’t she?
  • Could you tell me where is the station? -> Could you tell me where the station is?
  • Do you know does it open on Sundays? -> Do you know if it opens on Sundays? — does를 빼고, Yes/No에는 if/whether를 씁니다.

부가의문문은 시제에 맞춰 do / does / did을 씁니다.
