B1 Question tags & indirect questions 40 / 50
You’re coming, aren’t you? Could you tell me where the station is?
|---|---|---|---|
| You are coming | 肯定 | aren’t you? | You’re coming, aren’t you? |
| She doesn’t smoke | 否定文 | does she? | She doesn’t smoke, does she? |
| They have left | 肯定 | haven’t they? | They’ve left, haven’t they? |
| He can swim | 肯定 | can’t he? | He can swim, can’t he? |
| Tom works here | 肯定 | doesn’t he? | Tom works here, doesn’t he? |
| You didn’t call | 否定文 | did you? | You didn’t call, did you? |
Tom is late, isn’t he?(isn’t Tom ではありません)。 Even though the shop is shut, you can order online, can’t you?
|---|---|---|
| I am … | aren’t I? | I’m next, aren’t I? |
| I’m not … | am I? | I’m not late, am I? |
| 命令文(依頼) | will you? / won’t you? / can you? | Close the door, will you? |
| Let’s … | shall we? | Let’s start, shall we? |
| There is / are … | isn’t there? / aren’t there? | There’s a problem, isn’t there? |
| nothing / something(主語) | it | Nothing’s wrong, is it? |
| nobody / somebody / everybody | they(+ 複数の助動詞) | Somebody called, didn’t they? / Everybody has arrived, haven’t they? |
その代名詞が they であるため、付加部分の助動詞もそれに合わせて複数形になります(is -> are、has -> have、does -> do):Everybody is here, aren’t they? / Nobody has replied, have they?
He never calls, does he? / You’ve hardly eaten, have you?
It’s a lovely day, isn’t it?↘
You locked the door, didn’t you?↗
|---|---|
| Where is the station? | Could you tell me where the station is? |
| What time does it start? | I wonder what time it starts. |
| Is the shop open? | Do you know if/whether the shop is open? |
| When did they leave? | Do you know when they left? |
Yes/No疑問文では、if または whether でつなぎます:Do you know if it’s open? wh- 疑問文では、wh- の疑問詞をそのまま残します:I wonder what it costs.
Statement + , + (opposite polarity) auxiliary/BE/do + pronoun ?
|---|---|
| am / is / are / was / were | 同じ BE の形 |
| have / has / had(助動詞) | have / has / had |
| can、will、should、must など | 同じ法助動詞 |
(You must sign the form, mustn’t you?) She must be tired, isn’t she? / He must have left early, didn’t he?(mustn’t she ではありません)。
Do you know … / I wonder … / Would you mind telling me … / I’d like to know … + wh- 語 / if / whether + 主語 + 動詞。
例文
| English | 注 |
|---|---|
| You’ve finished your homework, haven’t you? | 肯定文(have) -> 否定の付加部分。 |
| She isn’t coming to the party, is she? | 否定文 -> 肯定の付加部分。 |
| Let’s take a break, shall we? |
| I’m right, aren’t I? | 特別なケース:I am -> aren’t I。 |
| Pass me the salt, will you? | 命令文の依頼 -> will you。 |
| He never listens, does he? | never が文を否定にする -> 肯定の付加部分。 |
| Could you tell me where the toilets are? |
| Do you know if the train has left?
You’re tired, isn’t it?-> You’re tired, aren’t you?:付加部分の代名詞は主語と一致させなければなりません。I’m late, amn’t I?-> I’m late, aren’t I?:I am の決まった付加部分は aren’t I です。She likes tea, likes she?-> She likes tea, doesn’t she?:現在形では、付加部分に本動詞ではなく do/does が必要です。Could you tell me where is the station?-> Could you tell me where the station is?:間接疑問文では倒置しません。Do you know does it open on Sundays?-> Do you know if it opens on Sundays?:does を落とし、Yes/No疑問文には if/whether を使います。
